Guardian privacy policy
Last updated 23 October 2026
Guardian is an Alexa+ add-on that helps people spot scams. It is a hackathon prototype. This page explains what it handles and why.
What Guardian receives
- Links and messages you ask about. Guardian checks the web address, looks up how old the website is, and opens the page in an isolated browser to see what it asks for. It takes a screenshot of the page to show you.
- What you say to it. Your request is sent to the language model that runs the assistant, so it can decide which check to run.
- Your family circle. When family members join through our Telegram bot, Guardian stores their Telegram first name and chat id, so it can ask them "Are you calling right now?" and send alerts.
- Recovery progress. If you start a recovery checklist, Guardian stores which step you are on and a short description of what happened.
What Guardian never asks for
Guardian never asks for passwords, one-time codes, PINs or card numbers. If anyone, including a voice that sounds like Guardian, asks you for these, do not share them.
Who sees it
- Family members in your circle receive the alerts and call checks you trigger.
- Telegram delivers those messages. The language model provider processes your requests.
- The website being checked sees a visit from our isolated browser, not from you.
We do not sell data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Link check results and their screenshots are deleted after one hour. The family circle and recovery progress are kept for the length of the hackathon demo and then deleted. A family member can ask to be removed at any time.
